EC Meeting, March 24, 2025

Adriana starts off by leading a discussion on the ribbons the EC can wear at CHI 25 and what they should look like. We decide to finalize the decision asynchronously. 

Neha shares updates on ACM OPEN, in light of the upcoming ACM Council meeting that week. A big point of discussion at the meeting will be the OPEN transition plan, how SIG costs and revenues will be affected, and how SIGs and conferences could distribute waivers. Overall, however, a significant portion of the publishing community will be covered through institutional buy-in to ACM OPEN. 

Matt and Ignacio share updates on conferences and financial well-being. The EC brainstorms alternatives/solutions to some of the budget items that have gotten expensive for conferences. 

Neha shares updates from activities at the SIG Governing Board. There will be efforts to address pressures and challenges surrounding publishing and peer review. SIGs will also be working on guidelines for SIG elections, and putting out a survey on conference well-being. 

We end by briefly discussing planning for EC events at CHI, and how we will coordinate on organizing them.
