Kaveh Bazargan
I hold a Ph.D. in HCI, a Master of Advanced Studies in Information Systems from the University of Geneva and a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). I am an assistant professor in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Global User Researcher at the Department of Socio-Technical Systems Management, Faculty of Management, Shahid Beheshti (National) University of Iran. In addition, I am the Founding Chair of ACM SIGCHI Iran Chapter and the Elected Chair of the SIGCHI Research-Practice Interaction (RPI) Community. I believe information systems development should meet both organizational and individual challenges and needs, thus all relevant human factors should be incorporated into the design process and system development life cycle as early as possible.

By profession, I am a Software Engineer and currently, I am serving as a lecturer at Public Sector University in Pakistan. I have completed my Master in Software Engineering from Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE), Islamabad Pakistan. Recently, I have been awarded full foreign scholarship for PhD from my home university. My area of research is the intersection of two very fascinating fields in HCI, End User Software Engineering and crowd-sourcing. I will devise new ways to help novice users compose their own ubiquitous applications with ease by leveraging the power of crowds. Being a SIGCHI Communication Ambassador, its a great opportunity for me to keep in touch with experts doing research in HCI and its my pleasure to share and explore corpus of this fascinating and ever-growing field.

I am a Senior Research Fellow in the Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham, UK. I have published numerous papers on Human Computer Interaction with a focus on human-centred design approaches. In my career, I have been able to create networks with other researchers across multiple disciplines, as well as with artists and industrial partners. I am also a visiting Academic at the University of Oxford, and an Editor of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing (Journal). As an Ambassador for the ACM it’s important to be able to share information and experiences with others in order to build and support the wider community. Being open to new ideas and new ways of thinking is important, particularly in respect to research and design.

I am Tomaso and I am a Human Factors Specialist with almost 10 years of experience in the HCI professional domain, developed across different industries around the world (EU, US, ASIA). I have a background in Cognitive Psychology and Interaction Design. I feel very lucky to work in the amazing field of HCI, where I always have the opportunity to learn new things from professionals having different backgrounds and day-to-day experiences than mine. This curiosity towards both the HCI field and the people working in it were the drive leading me to apply to become a SIGCHI ambassador. I am super happy I have been given this chance and I look forward to working with you to grow and maintain our community of practice!

I am a lecturer in Human Computer Interaction at Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT), on the beautiful west coast of Ireland. I am also the principle researcher of the HCI Research Group at LIT where we have a broad remit of research projects from Smart Ageing to Virtual Reality. I started a PhD in emotional design and digital learning in 2014 and when I am not teaching, or researching, I love to spend my spare time taking photographs. I am really excited about the opportunity to share my passion for all things digital through the communication ambassador programme.
