The ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (or CHI as it’s typically called) is the premier international conference for the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). This flagship conference is generally considered the most prestigious in the field of HCI and attracts thousands of international attendees annually. CHI has been sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer–Human Interaction (SIGCHI) since 1983. However, CHI was born in 1982 as the “Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems” and following the 1983 CHI conference, it’s been held annually since 1985.

This conference series page has details of all past CHI conferences and the current CHI steering committee. The following table of past CHI conferences includes details of the location, paper acceptance rates, attendance figures and links to the proceedings and recorded talks (where available). The year archive page (e.g. CHI ’17) includes details of organisers involved in that year. While details of the upcoming CHI conferences can be found here.

Since April 2019 the CHI steering committee have been building a new website https://chi.acm.org

CHI Steering Committee

The CHI Steering Committee oversees the activities of all conference committee chairs from CHI 2018 onwards.
