All SIG leaders and Jack Davidson and Wayne Graves from the Digital Library Board have been discussing Google Scholar’s invitation to ACM to allow the Version of Record (VoR) to be used in generating “Answers from this paper,” a new AI-assisted feature in the next generation of Google Scholar.

The DL Board believes participation offers significant strategic advantages and is interested in hearing feedback from the SIGs as they continue their conversations with Google Scholar.

Where should CHI go next? We want to hear from you!

As part of the Site Selection team of the CHI Steering Committee, we are opening a call for suggestions of cities and venues to host the ACM CHI Conference in 2030 and 2031. CHI is SIGCHI’s flagship event, and choosing where it takes place is a decision that affects the community at large — accessibility, affordability, visa processes, sustainability, and the opportunity to engage local and regional HCI communities around the world.

When suggesting a location, it helps to consider aspects such as:

• Venue capacity for a large conference (4,000+ attendees) and nearby hotel availability.

• International accessibility (flight connections and visa accessibility for a global community).

• Affordability for attendees, especially students and participants from underrepresented regions.

• Local HCI community and potential for regional engagement.

• Safety and inclusiveness for all.

You are welcome to suggest more than one location, and no suggestion is too early — site selection happens years in advance, so your input now shapes CHI's future editions.
