The interactions review was based on feedback from interviews and surveys of SIGCHI's membership editors, authors, and subscribers. It identified some of the strengths and weaknesses of the magazine, and offered potential next steps for interactions, SIGCHI, and the ACM. It was submitted to the SIGCHI EC in October 2003, and to the ACM Publications Board in November 2003. It is currently forming the basis for some innovations and process enhancements for the interactions magazine in 2004 and 2005.

This team was set up in February 2004 by William Newman, primarily to ensure review-process continuity and evaluation. One of the team's main roles is to help the co-chairs for CHI Papers (and now also the co-chairs for CHI Notes) to define and implement their review processes. The co-chairs often face difficult decisions that require immediate action, and here the Support Team can offer advice and assistance, drawing on their own experience of co-chairing and/or meta-reviewing.
A second Support Team role is to help evaluate the process; team members observe the annual Papers committee meetings and follow up on difficult cases. One additional concern of the Support Team is reviewing policy. The CHI Papers Review Policy already sets out the main guiding principles for reviewing, but it needs regular revisions and extensions to cover emerging issues and to incorporate proven review practice.
Team Members: William Newman (lead), Stephen Brewster, Tom Erickson, Rob Jacob, Robin Jeffries, Wendy Kellogg, Monica Schraefel, Shumin Zhai

A team of leaders in the HCI field were brought together to assess how well our current publication venues (conference, CHI Letters, TOCHI, other journals, other serial publications) are meeting the needs of SIGCHI's researchers and the people who consume that research, identifying gaps/needs, and developing some strategies to address those gaps/needs.
Team Members: Robert Kraut (lead), Michel Beaudouin-Lafon, John Carroll, Gilbert Cockton, Jonathan Grudin, Wendy Kellogg, Dan Olsen.

In the past the Publications Board has overseen CHI Letters, an edited collection of the very best proceedings from SIGCHI-sponsored conferences from 1999 to 2004.
