Providing a Welcome Message

6.8 Welcome and Farewell Files
LISTSERV sends subscribers a generic welcome message at the time of subscription. The generic message describes the list's options and common commands for user. List owners can provide a list-specific welcome message that will be sent to subscribers in a separate message (creating a welcome message does not affect the generic welcome).

Here is an example of a shallow but varied list welcome message that would be sent to listserv@acm.org.
