Jay the Astronaut: Tuesday I had a chance to interview Jay Apt.
Jay is here because when he was an astronaut there was a lot of
human-computer interaction.
Jay now works at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. He uses
lots of computers at the museum to help people and kids learn
more about the earth. He finds that the range of knowledge at
CHI is the most interesting thing about it. This is his first
year at CHI. At the museum Jay helps design and build exhibits.
He has gone into space four times. While he was in space he used
a lot of computers. His favorite web site is www.clpgh.org/cmnh.
This is the museumıs site.
His favorite thing about computers is that they can show you
many different things. For example, you can see an image of the
center of the Earth. He thinks that the ways people interface
with computers in a museum can help them learn more. Jay has built
robot tour guides that will be at the reception. This was one
of my most interesting interviews.
